  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 28 ounces tomatoes, diced
  • 2 cups Vegetable broth
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar, or honey
  • 1 teaspoon Dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon Dried oregano
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ¼ teaspoon Black pepper
  • ½ cup Heavy cream
  • Fresh basil leaves, optional


  • In a large pot, melt the butter over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and cook until it becomes translucent for about 3-4 minutes.
  • Add the minced garlic and sauté for another 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the diced tomatoes, including their juices, and the tomato sauce. Stir to combine.
  • Add the vegetable broth, sugar or honey, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil. Reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
