Croutons
Combine tiny cubes of stale bread with your preferred dried herbs and spices, nutritional yeast or vegan parmesan in a small amount of olive oil. The options can be oregano, paprika and garlic powder.
On a baking sheet, arrange the cubes in a single layer and bake for only ten minutes or so.
Bread Pudding
Break up the bread into small pieces, and then drizzle some melted butter on top and add raisins.
Combine the eggs, milk, sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla in a medium mixing dish. Mix thoroughly after beating.
Pour the egg mixture over the bread and gently press down so that it covers and soaks up the egg mixture.
Bake in the preheated oven at 350 F for 45 minutes.
Serve with ice cream, fresh cream or vanilla custard.
Bread Pizza
Slice pieces of stale bread in half and place on a baking sheet.
To soften the bread, lightly brush it with milk. This step can be skipped if the bread is fresh.
Spread tomato puree on each slice of bread.
Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese shredded.
Add some grated Parmesan cheese.
Spread olive oil on all the bread.
For about 20 minutes, bake at 180 C until the cheese is melted and brown.
Italian Bread Crumbs
Cut stale bread into large pieces and place them in a large food processor or blender.
Combine dried parsley, basil, oregano, and thyme with garlic powder, salt and pepper.
Process the bread until fine crumbs form.
You may either use the breadcrumbs right away in a dish or freeze them in an airtight container for later use.
