First, add the oil and butter to a medium pot on high heat. Then, add in the cubed onion and sauté until caramelized.
After washing and soaking the red lentils and rice for 10 minutes (in one bowl), drain the water then add them to the pot.
After that, pour in the 6 cups of water, bouillon cubes, salt ,and a pinch of 7 spices. Allow to boil, then simmer for 20 minutes stirring occasionally. Garnish with chopped parsley and enjoy alone, veggies or with pita bread.
