Start by trimming off your carrots' green top. Some stores would have already completed this step for you.
Place the unpeeled carrots in a glass container filled with water. Allow the carrots to completely cover the carrots.
Close the lid, and place the container in the refrigerator. Change the water every 4-5 days.
Tips for Foolproof Results!
- Store your carrots away from fruits and vegetables that produce ethylene gas such as apples, bananas, and pears.
- Keep your carrots away from heat and light. This way, they will develop a higher concentration of vitamins.
- Use a tall pitcher to store your carrots if you are looking to save space in your refrigerator.
- You can also use a plastic bag to store carrots. However, make sure you poke holes in the bag, or leave it slightly open.
- Don't overcrowd your carrots in an airtight plastic bag. They need space for air circulation or they will spoil faster.
