Equipment

  • Heavy bottom pot with lid

Ingredients

  • 1 cup popcorn kernels organic
  • 5 tablespoons coconut oil
  • salt desired amount
  • white cheddar powder optional

Instructions

  • First, place the heavy-bottomed pot with a lid on the stovetop and put the heat on high. Then allow the pot to heat for 1 whole minute, then add 1 cup of popcorn kernels and allow it to heat for another 1 whole minute.
  • Now add in the coconut oil and salt if desired. Using a spoon move the popcorn around in your large pot so that they are all coated then cover with lid and watch them pop. You'll hear the kernels pop.
  • Once the popcorn slows down in popping, lower the heat to a medium-even temperature until they are all popped.
  • After that, turn off the heat and immediately remove the lid using oven mitts so that the condensation does not drip onto the popped popcorn.
  • Finally, place the popcorn in a bowl. After 2-3 seconds, add seasoning like white cheddar powder if desired. Toss around in a large bowl, give it a good shake for the best results, and then enjoy your movie theater popcorn!

Notes

Top Tips:
  • A heavy-bottomed pot with lid will make perfect popcorn on stove top! This is because the heavy bottom pot heats more evenly, resulting in almost all popped kernels and minimal burnt ones.
  • To avoid the chewy texture of popcorn, make sure your pot's lid  is ventilated properly so that excess moisture won't be absorbed into the kernels. If your lid has no vents, simply keep it slightly open during the cooking process on medium-low heat.
  • Choose coconut oil since it gives a delicious buttery taste to the popcorn kernels. Also, coconut oil's smoke point is 450 degrees F, which means that your stovetop popcorn will be so healthy without any harmful ingredients!
