Ingredients

  • 1 ¼ cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 3 tablespoons melted butter

Oil For Frying

  • 4 cups vegetable oil

Instructions

  • Preheat the oil to 360℉.
  • Combine the sugar, baking powder, salt, and flour in a medium bowl.
  • In another bowl, whisk the milk and melted butter.
  • Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients, and knead the dough. Let it rest for 5 minutes.
  • Roll the dough and shape the donuts into a small ball size.
  • Once the oil is hot, carefully add a few donuts to the pan at a time. Fry each side for about 1-2 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the fried donuts to a paper towel-lined plate to remove excess oil.
  • Mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow dish until well combined.
  • While the donuts are still warm, roll each one in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until coated evenly.
  • Serve the quick homemade donuts warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • This tip is very crucial, before frying the donuts make sure that the oil is hot enough for the donuts. It should not be too hot or too cold. Use a thermometer to check the temperature, it should be 360 degree F.
  • Make sure to use clean and fresh oil. Don't over-use the oil, or you will not get the desired result.
  • It is very important to fry small batches of donuts, and not all at once. This way you will avoid greasy and uncooked donuts.
  • When choosing the topping for the donuts, remember that the dough is not sweet enough. So, you need to cover them with sweet toppings in order to balance out the flavors.
  • Try having these delicious donuts in the same day. Since they dry out when kept for the next day.
  • If you decided to prepare sugared donuts, make sure to roll them directly after they have been fried.
  • Don't over mix the dough.
