Ingredients

  • 4 pounds chicken breasts
  • 4 tablespoons plain yogurt Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup olive oil vegetable oil
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • ¾ cup lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper paste
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 8-10 minced garlic cloves or garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons oregano seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • ½ teaspoon salt to taste

Instructions

  • First, preheat the oven to 400°F.
  • Then, cube the chicken breast into bite size pieces.
  • In a medium bowl, add yogurt, little olive oil, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, lemon juice, red pepper paste, garlic powder, minced cloves of garlic, paprika, oregano, white pepper, cumin, coriander, and salt. Mix the marinade well.
  • Next, add the chicken cubes to the marinade and mix well until the chicken is well coated. You can choose to bake right away. For best results, you can place in the fridge for 1 to 24 hours covered.
  • Finally, bake the chicken in the oven for 20 minutes. They should be golden brown.
  • Serve Lebanese chicken shish tawook with warm rice, salad, in sub, or on a bed of lettuce. Enjoy!

#1: If you like spicy food, you can sprinkle some hot red pepper flakes onto the marinade.
#2: If you are not a fan of chicken breasts, you can use boneless skinless chicken thighs.
#3: If you do not want to use the oven for any reason, you can cook the marinated chicken in a frying pan. Toss the chicken in a hot pan and leave it on medium heat. Stir frequently to avoid the chicken from getting burned.
#4: For grilled chicken lovers, chicken shish tawook is also perfect for some Middle Eastern chicken skewers, for an outdoor grill, or indoor grill pan. Enjoy the grilled chicken with friends and family.
#5: You can double or even triple the ingredients if you have a party or a picnic with family and friends. Use a large bowl to mix the yogurt marinade and coat the chicken. You will also need a large pan to bake.
