Do You Need to Peel All Fruits Before Putting Them into Your Drink?

There are many fruit peels that you can add to your drink, but only a few will actually work because of the different textures and tastes. Some are more bitter than others.

Apple peels are a good source of fibers, vitamin A, and vitamin C and actually taste good when blended. So, for sure you can add chopped apples with their peels to your drink. Oranges and lemons as you see in this recipe are good with their peels in a drink.

But, adding peels of fruits like avocado and kiwi is not a good idea. Their skin texture and taste will definitely create a mushy texture and bitter taste. Although, kiwi peels can triple fiber and increase vitamin C, it would be a better idea to blend or puree them into a smoothie.

    Helpful Tips and Tricks

Don’t let the oranges and lemon freeze for too long because they get bitter if you do. You can freeze them for 8 to 10 hours (overnight) maximum.

You should clean and soak oranges very well because you will be consuming the peels. Everything will be blended together. It is very healthy to make this drink with peels blended but for some it may be too bitter, so go ahead and peel it. The peels of oranges and lemons have a lot of benefits.

To deep clean them, sit both lemons and oranges in the sink and let them have a water bath. Then, add baking soda or vinegar which helps take off all of the wax and chemicals that are stuck on the peel.

If not done this way, it will defeat the purpose of having a clean healthy drink.
