This dough is quite the versatile one. It’s uses are endless and ensures a perfect texture and taste dough like no other. Since I’ve posted about it on my Instagram page, it’s received heaps of praise and has been bookmarked plenty.

Don’t hesitate to try them all and much more!
I can go on and on about why this will become your favorite dough recipe. But I’ll try to keep it as concise as possible for you. Later, you can come back and drop your own thoughts, reasons, and even tips on this recipe in the comments section below!

Perks of this Dough Recipe
First of all, it’s a timesaver! I mean if that’s not enough of a reason, I really don’t know what is lol! Plus, timesaver really means a lifesaver.
We all can relate when I say there are days you barely have time to scratch your head! So anything that tastes great, fills tummies, and is EASY and QUICK, is a fix for my fast-paced life and I’m sure most of you feel the same!
Also, this bodes well with kids because if there’s anything we can all agree on, it’s that when kids are hungry, you have got to get food on the table FAST!
With this recipe, you could have a whole pizza ready on the table in about 20 minutes. In just about the same time, probably faster than ordering one for delivery.
Plus, you get the added bonus of knowing what went into your kids’ stomachs because you handmade it, FROM SCRATCH!!
Quick Dough
Not only is it quick and easy and doesn’t necessarily need to rise, it’s definitely a money-saver! It could cost as less as 70 cents on average to make your own dough at home with ingredients you most likely already have.
Imagine how much you can save in comparison to what you might pay for store-bought frozen dough or pre-made dough from a local bakery.
This will be your go-to dough recipe, trust me! The magic in this ten minute dough is that it needs little kneading unlike regular dough recipes.
It’s a less intimidating recipe overall to make than other dough recipes around. It requires slight adaptations in prepping, shaping, or cooking methods depending on what you’ll use it for.
It’s hard to believe dough can be this easy to make, but it is. I mean to have such a great quality dough ready in ten minutes is just super awesome! This really is a lifesaving miracle dough!
What kitchen tools will I need to make dough recipe?
Nothing you don’t already have! Your standard whisk, wooden spoon, a bowl, measuring cups and spoons, and your hands.
Of course, you always have the option of using a stand-mixer if you have one at your disposal. This can be used for the mixing and kneading process. Other than that, you are good to go!

Tips to the miracle bread making method
- Resting time is only 10 minutes for the Ten Minute All-Purpose Dough, but allowing it to rest longer is perfectly fine and can enhance the texture of the dough
- The additional ¼ cup of water does not need to be added in. Add it in only if you feel the dough is too firm or dry and needs to be loosened up.
- If the dough is too sticky, sprinkle flour onto the dough you are working with repeatedly until it becomes and soft airy. Another way is to easily spray cooking oil spray or rub olive oil on your hands to work with the dough.
- Yeast hack: since yeast has to be put in warm water (too cool or hot will prevent it from rising), mix your sugar first into your warm water and sprinkle your yeast on top of the water and wait it for it to foam to ensure activation
- For an extra kick in flavors, add some spices or dry herbs into the dry flour mix during preparation
- For a healthier version, swap half the amount of white flour with whole wheat or whole meal flour

Confused on which type of flour to use?
Self-rising Flour: You can make this yourself or purchase ready for use. This flour is a combination of all-purpose flour, salt, and baking powder. It’s most useful in cake recipes and some bread recipes that don’t require yeast.
All Purpose Flour: Very commonly used flour made from blended hard and soft wheat. It has a moderate protein and starch levels in comparison to other flours. It’s popular because it works well for cakes, pastries, breads, and other uses.
Bread Flour: This type of flour consists wholly of hard of wheat. Its high gluten content is what helps the bread dough rise higher. This type of flour works best with yeasted doughs, especially bread which is why it’s called “bread” flour.
Whole Wheat Flour: This flour can be made by blending whole kernels of red wheat. It’s higher in nutrients and fiber than regular white or all-purpose fiber that’s why it tends to be known has a “healthier” flour.
Oat Flour: Obviously this kind of flour comes from ground oats and not wheat. This is a perfect flour option for gluten-free diets. You can easily prep it at home if you have dried oats by grinding them in a food processor or blender until they are powder. This type of flour though needs a little more liquid as a dough than regular wheat flour.
Ingredients you need

lynda says
are you suppose to mix the salt and yeast together? I always learned to keep salt away from the yeast. Thanks. Def. going to try this.
Lama says
Hi Lynda! If you notice in the body of the blog I did not have salt included. I don’t usually add salt to my dough. But you are correct. If you choose to add it, add in when incorporating the flour! Thanks for the heads up. I fixed that above and removed it since I don’t add salt. I usually add salt when I make wheat bread 🙂
Susan says
I have to thank you for this quick dough recipe. Saved my life. I make so many things like pizza and pies
LARA says
Thanks for sharing. I’m definitely gonna try this. I just have a question. Can I use whole wheat in this Ten Minute All-Purpose Dough?
Lama says
It will change the recipe since whole wheat would require different measurements! You can try using 4 cups of whole wheat flour to 1 1/2 cups warm water!

Jennifer says
This recipe makes an amazing dough! I made it by hand without the stand mixer and kneaded it just until it came together into a ball. It’s easy to work with, fluffy, and not too dense. I’m saving the recipe so I can use it again. Thank you!
Lama says
Amazing! Glad to hear that it worked well for you!!
Malak says
Hi Lama,
Thank you for this great recipe.
I tried making a substitution and I have a question for you. My son has a few allergies among which wheat, so I tried making it with a gluten free flour mix. It is supposed to be 1:1 ratio but the dough came out very dense and not stretchy. It actually almost breaks if you pull it. When it bakes, it is crunchy on the outside but feels not fully cooked inside if that makes any sense. Do you think I could use more water or more oil or both? Any suggestions on how to improve it?
Thank you!
Malak
Lama says
Hi Malak! So sorry to hear your gluten free way did not work. Did you use self rising gluten free flour? So as you add the flour with the water mixture you want to have a soft texture and it will be sticky. Slowly add the oil and knead amd continue to do that until it is no longer sticky. If it is too loose, add flour a little at a time.
The dough shouldn’t be tough otherwise it will be dense when you bake it. Hope that helps! I have good news for you though… I will be publishing a gluten free flour recipe soon! (possibly a few)😉
Malak says
Lama,
Thank you for your help. I have to admit I have no idea regarding the flour being self rising or not. Until recently having to make things with special ingredients for my son, I didn’t really used to bake much so still learning.
As for the gluten free recipe, YAY, can’t wait!! I hope it’s dairy free too🙂
Best,
Malak
Lama says
I see!! It is important to make sure the yeast is fresh and is not flat. I usually store my yeast in an air tight container in the fridge. A gluten free recipe is on my list to do for sure 🙂
Ellen says
Hello, I am struggling with making the bread. I have tried your recipe – which is sooo simple – but the bread turns out heavy. I can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong? I’m using Fleischmann’s traditional active dry yeast.
Look forward to any tips you have for me. Thanks so much!
Lama says
Hi Ellen, when you add the flour to the water and combine, (before you add the oil) do you notice the dough being soft or hard? I have added in the recipe card that a little more water might be needed. Also, are you using measuring cups for the flour and for the water?
Jessica L. says
Hi Ellen, I think this recipe is amazing. The bread although came out looking great it did not taste great. It was very, very, bland. I was wondering if it has to do with the fact I used the whole 1/4 cup of olive oil. My bread came out looking fantastic and when I cut into it, it looked great. However, that first bite took me by surprised. I could not eat the bread without jam or something sweet on it. I’m wondering what I did wrong. Any advice you can give would be great. This was definitely a good receipe. Just don’t know what happened.
Lama says
Hi, you can add salt to the dough mixture if you didn’t this time and you can even add more sweetness to it by adding sugar, honey or maple syrup.
tatiana says
loved the dough itself but the cooking temp if your making a loaf is just a little bit off! i’m not sure exactly what would work but this time frame leaves to loaf a little raw on the inside still!
Lama says
Great to hear! For a loaf you want to bake for about 14-18 minutes depending on how strong your oven is. Please check the notes in the recipe box above next time you make this dough recipe 🙂 Since a few people asked, I added the tips in the notes. Hope that helps!
Kevin says
I love the concept, but I am a bit confused by the actual baking part. You mention baking it for 10-12 minutes. Is that the whole loaf just in a ball on a tray? Should it be divided? After 15 minutes mine was over done on the outside and raw in the middle.
Lama says
Hi Kevin! I am so sorry that there was confusion there. Did you get a chance to read the notes at the bottom of the recipe card? I have some details there: MAKE A LOAF OF BREAD: Using a 9×5 loaf pan this recipe can make 2 loaves baked at 375°F for 30-35 minutes. If you have any left overs, save the rest in a zip lock bag to make so many different things in the next 2-3 days max, or freeze!
I hope this helps!
Ali says
I am confused on the time and temperature as well. In the recipe it says to bake at 450 for 10 to 12 minutes, so I put my loaf in on that temp. However I see in the notes AFTER to bake at 375 for 30 minutes for a loaf. I’m a bit confused which instructions I’m supposed to follow as my loaf is currently slowly dying in the oven lol, why do the instructions say 450 for 10-15 minutes???
Lama says
Hi Ali! So sorry for the confusion. To bake anything like a personalized pizza, manaeesh, or buns for instance it takes about 10-15 minutes depending on the strength of your oven. For my oven it takes 12 minutes.
The loaf instructions are different and specified to bake at 375F for about 30 minutes. I am going to spend some time to update the blog and recipe card so that it is more detailed and clear. I hope that helps!
How did your loaf turn out?

I like to think I’m fairly good in the kitchen but the one thing that I am horrible at is making dough. Try as I might, I have never had success with a dough recipe, until I tried this recipe. This is officially my go-to when making anything that requires dough. It’s simple quick and easy and tastes delicious! I highly, highly recommend this recipe!
Lama says
Hi Jenan! What makes my day are reviews like this one! Making dough is very intimidating to many. I am so glad this blog post and recipe helped you achieve making dough since dough is so versatile. Super exciting! By the way, making dough has become my favorite recipe to make in the kitchen since it is so fast and satisfying from start to finish.
Mary Jo says
Fantastic recipe! Im anxious to try it. How many loaves of bread does this recipe make?
Lama says
HI! This recipes will make about 5 loaves of bread if using a 9 x 5 inch loaf pan. Bake at 450F for 18-20 minutes. I would cut the recipe in half or make the full recipe and save the rest in a zip lock bag to make so many different things in the next 2-3 days max, or freeze! :). Hope this helps Mary!
Maria says
This bread is so tender!! I halved the recipe and it still made a very nice, large round loaf. I baked it for 12 minutes, for my oven I might have needed about 14 minutes, but it’s still so fast. It rose a ton in the oven, was light, airy, but with a great crumb structure. Perfect with soup. After eating it, my wife said we have to pin the recipe on the fridge. I usually don’t write reviews, but we were so impressed. I make bread every week, and this is definitely staying in the rotation.

Hi, I am excited to try this recipe for pizza & fir bread but first, how many loaves of bread does it make? it says w-3 times that it makes 2 loaves & 1 post says it makes 4 loaves. and how many pizza’s & do you have size of the pizza’s? I do appreciate your time & shared info. Thank you@
Lama says
Hi Brenda! I think it would all depend on how thick or thin one is making a loaf. For pizza, this recipe can make you 2 large thin pizzas or 2-3 medium thick pizzas 🙂 It really depends on the how thin or thick you want your pizza. I usually thin it out 🙂 Was this helpful? Please let me know if you have any further questions.

Patrick says
Hi, I have zero experience making bread. I made the dough and rested for 30 min and now it’s in the fridge because I’m not sure what to do next. I don’t need to bake it until later today. Can I bake the whole thing at once in a Dutch oven? If not, how much should I use for a Dutch oven loaf? If I separate into smaller portions, do I need to re-knead it and let it rise again?
Lama says
Hi Patrick, you can totally place the whole dough in a dutch oven, but I do recommend to remove the dough out of the fridge to warm up and rise again for a half an hour (covered). If you decide to separate into small portions, you can let the dough rest for a good 20 minutes- half hour after removing from the fridge. Hope it turned out well for you!
Patrick says
Thanks so much! I’ll let you know how it works out.
Lama says
sounds good! 🙂
Ale says
Are you supposed to use all 1/4 cup of olive oil? I did for my first try and I didn’t like how the dinner rolls I made tasted.
Lama says
You don’t have to use all 1/4 cup… you can use enough to where the dough feels good. I would say 3 tablespoons is fine. You can also use vegetable oil or avocado oil instead of olive oil.
Jeanine I says
This recipe looks great! What’s the differing using fast acting or instant yeast? Instant yeast says to just add to the dry ingredients. I want to try this recipe, tho cut in half, to make some fresh bread. Any suggestions on how to make half the recipe with the fast acting yeast without hitting any snags?
Lama says
Fast acting and instant yeast are both the same. I would cut the recipe in half and reserve 1/4 cup water to add slowly if needed as you knead the dough (video below). You want a soft play dough, consistency and once you add the oil it will no longer be as sticky. Keep in mind, if you do the recipe as is, you can freeze or refrigerate the rest (please see notes). :). Hope this helps! Keep me posted!
Jeanie Frederick says
Good morning,
I’ve been trying different bread recipes and stumbled onto yours. It sounds super easy, but that also makes me nervous.
Does this recipe make one loaf of bread? It says that it makes 4-5 loaves so I want to be sure. Also, do I need to spray the bread pan before baking?
Thank you! I look forward to making this recipe!
Jeanie Frederick
Lama says
Hi Jeanie! IT is super easy and very popular. You would need to spray the pan yes. This recipe can make 2 loaves if you are using a 9×5 inch pan and baked at 375F for about 30-35 minutes. I will be sure to include that in the blog. Add some cinnamon and raisins if you wish! It can make 4-5 loaves if using smaller pans. Thank you for asking a great question!

This is a great recipe ! Making sandwich rolls so often I need a commercial kitchen . Everyone loves them I’m next going to use garlic olive oil .
thanks
Lama says
Hey mark! LOL, I LOVE making dough myself. It is so much fun and this recipe is so versatile, you can make so much with it. You are so welcome! Thank you for the feedback!
Sharon says
Haven’t made it yet. If I use baking powder instead of the yeast, would I use the same amount?
Lama says
Hello there! I have never made this dough with this swap, so I honestly don’t know. I would recommend researching how much baking powder is needed to replace yeast.
Rani says
Can you roll it for a thin crust pizza
Lama says
Absolutely! I often do this to make thin crust pizza. I do recommend adding less yeast for a less fluffier dough.
Christine says
Hi there! Your bread is delicious! I went with the 450 degrees for 10 minutes, but after reading further, can be baked @ 375. After following ,adding most of the 1/4 C of oil, which was too much, didn’t know, after reading comments , really all you need is 3 Tabs of oil! Wished there was a side note next to the oil
Lama says
Hi Christine! You are so right! I added that to the notes right next to the ingredient there. I appreciate your critique and for the heads up. This helps others 🙂
Best,
Lama

Kristina Foley says
I needed a quick bread recipe because I forgot to make bread earlier in the day. I stumbled upon this recipe and thought I’d try it. I was in such a rush that I used 2 tbsp of sugar instead of 1, the water wasn’t even warm enough for the yeast, the oil wasn’t fully incorporated and I let it set exactly 10 minutes before I baked it. It was the BEST bread I ever made. It was crusty & dense and tasted great. The 2 loaves I made are gone. I will definitely use this again & again!
Lama says
Hi Kristina! YAY! It is so rewarding reading your feedback. This recipe works every single time and it is versatile. SO happy you are enjoying it! All the best! -Lama
Laurel says
This was so easy to make. My dough wasn’t sticky after adding in the flour, but I added some olive oil anyway. Then I split the dough in half, put one half in the fridge for later, and cut the other half into 12 balls. I put melted butter and cinnamon sugar in the bottom of a pie pan and put the balls on top to form cinnamon bun pull apart bread. Yum!!!
Lama says
Hi Laurel! SO wonderful reading your review! This is my go to quick dough recipe and best ever! So happy you find it easy and versatile! 🙂 All the best! -Lama

I would love to be able to print this recipe to add to my giant binder of favorites. But when I click on “print recipe” it just jumps back to the top of the page.
Lama says
Hi Laurel! I just tried it and it worked! 🙂 You can find the “print button” on the recipe card. If you tap “jump to recipe” at the top of the page, it will skip and take you right to the recipe card. Please let me know if that works for you!

hi… baked half of this and it was really good! I want to bake the other half today, I have had it in the freezer for about a week or so. once it is thawed out how long do I need to let it rise again before I can bake it?
Lama says
Glad you liked the ten minute dough Karen! Once the dough is thawed out, sprinkle with a little bit of flour to gently knead it. Cover for half an hour then use.

I used this recipe for the first time to bake a loaf of bread. My first loaf of bread ever! It was delicious! It’s a miracle recipe and will share it widely and use it again. Thanks so much.

Wonderful recipe. The bread is more of a sandwich bread with a little sweetness to it. Wonderful for toast with a cup of tea. I normally make bread a different way…more air pockets, crustier. But this is a great recipe for some quick, tasty bread!
Lama says
Yes! For airy bread I suggest allowing the dough to rest for atleast 1-2 hours and the dough consistency shouldn’t be firm but softer and the way to do this is by adding a little more water when kneading so that it is looser consistency 🙂
codette says
Sounds and cooks up wonderful, do you think or know if Einkorn All purpose flour could be substituted-?
Lama says
Glad you think so!! I have tried whole wheat flour but the measurements are different. I did’t write down the recipe when I tried it a while back but they turned out so good! I remember for wheat flour it required more water, that is all! So you can try it that way, add more water until you get the right consistency for dough which would be comparable to the recipe here! Hope that helps 🙂

I loved how it came out but I used instant yeast so it didn’t foam and I was confused. Still came out amazing, I was thinking this recipe asked for active dry yeast since it didn’t mention which kind of yeast to use. Thanks again
Lama says
Hi Desiree! Thank you so much for letting me know. I have made the change in the recipe card to read “active dry yeast”. Thanks again and so happy the bread came out amazing for you!!
Fay says
Wow! This is my absolute favorite dough recipe! It will be may go to.

Dawn says
I found this recipe and decided to try it. I didn’t change anything and I made as bread and got 2 loaves like recipe said. I like how it’s easy and I let it sit for 30 minutes. I like it but it’s a heavy bread. Maybe I should of kneaded it longer? Not sure but that’s my opinion. Husband and father in law love it! So I gave it 5 stars but need to make again 😀
Lama says
Hi Dawn! Thank you for your feedback! Glad to hear you liked the bread 🙂 If you want it to be less dense, you can make the dough consistency looser by adding a little more water. So for example when you are instructed to add the very warm water, add 1-2 tablespoons at a time more until the dough is a bit sticky and soft in consistency. Then add in the oil as you are kneading. Allow the dough to rest covered for atleast one hour for a less dense bread. I hope this helps! 🙂

This is 2nd time I’ve made this recipe. I made it as bread and got 2 loaves. It is so easy and yummy 😋! My husband loves it and father in law. Definitely my go to and I add 2 1/4 cups of water because the dough is dry if I don’t. Thank you for a easy great recipe
Lama says
Hi Dawn! How awesome it is to hear that it turned out good for you! 🙂 Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your feedback!
Rhonda says
The recipe was easy to make and turned out 2 beautiful loaves. However it tasted very bland. I think next time I’ll add more salt or sugar. I don’t think a pinch of salt was enough for two loaves.
Lama says
Hi Rhonda! Definitely 🙂 add more salt or sugar and let me know how you like it!
Debbie Santiago says
Will bread flour work equally?
Lama says
Yes it will!
Dawn says
I’ve made this recipe 4 times now. The first time I made pizza and it was great! I have also made it for bread and the first two times I didn’t like it, it had no flavor and the bread was dry the next day. This last time I made bread and I only put 1 Tbsp of yeast it was definitely better! Next time I will use a little less than that! Thank you for sharing 😀
Lama says
Hi Dawn! I am so pleased to hear that eventually you were able to tweak the recipe to your liking and it worked for you!! 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing your feedback!
Elizabeth says
Hi!Can I make this dough in the Vitamix Blender? Thank you very much. Elizabeth
Lama says
Hi Elizabeth! If your vitamix blender has the dough mixing tools then you can! I would make half the amount since I assume the ingredient portions may be to much for a Vitamix. I have to say, I have never tried making dough as of yet using a Vitamix! If you do try it and it works, please let me know 🙂 FYI: You can simply use your hands.
Elizabeth says
Hi! Your dough recipe is amazing! Can I use it in a Vitamix blender and if I can please send me the instruction. Thank you very much! Elizabeth
Lama says
Hi! I would search online to see if others have so you can get an idea. I have never used a Vitamix to make my dough. I usually use my hands. It comes together in 10 minutes.
Rebecca says
I’m excited to try this recipe! Please let me know if I need to oil and/or flour breads pans if I’m making loaves. Thank you!
Lama says
Hi Rebecca! Yes, definitely grease the bread pans if making loaves with cooking oil spray or brush avocado or olive oil. Enjoy!
Elizabeth says
Miss Lama hi! First I want to thank you for your quick response second I have a question You answered Lara to change the measurement of the whole wheat flour and the water for the 10 minutes dough, what about the remaining ingredients, do they need to be changed also and how please? Thank you very much again. Elizabeth
Lama says
Hi Elizabeth! My pleasure:) The rest of the ingredients remain the same yes! I hope that helps. Please let me know if you have any other questions! 🙂

Miss Lama hi! Sorry to bother you again but I just found out that I am allergic to wheat and I would like to know please if I can use rye flour instead and also the oven temperature ,how long and if I can make Calzoni and Stromboli with it Thank you very much again! Elizabeth
Lama says
Hi Elizabeth! I am so sorry but I have not tried rye flour with this recipe therefore I can’t really say! Did you try making it at all?
