What’s the Story of Air Fried Tortilla Chips?
If you only knew how these air fried chips were created lol. Some fellow food bloggers invited me to participate in an air fryer recipe collaboration on Instagram, so I agreed to participate.
I didn’t work on my collaboration until that due date and I was really pressed on time. So, I grabbed my tortilla bag and prayed that my idea would work!
After my first batch, I saw the melted honey and cinnamon on the bottom of the air fryer. Then I decided to drizzle them all over the tortilla chips and OMG it was just the perfect final touch!
Every chip turned out glazed and tasted like candied sweet chips! Also, the crispy taste from the air fryer gave them such a delicious crunchiness all around!
Do These Homemade Tortilla Chips Need Oil?
Air fryer honey cinnamon tortilla chips require no oil with lots of calories. All you need is a small amount of cooking oil spray. Also, here are different oil sprays you can use. I decided to use avocado oil spray and it worked great! Saved lots of calories that’s for sure!
Tortilla chips in the air fryer taste close to elephant ears but the difference is that crispy texture! My kids and husband loved the snack but what really made me happy is my mother’s reaction! She is brutally honest, so when she compliments or expresses how much she likes a recipe I make, it means it’s good!!
Can I Fry These Tortilla Chips instead of Air Frying?
With this recipe, I haven’t tried frying them with honey. If you ask me I would say it would work but I wonder if it would taste the same or even bitter based on what I have read.
When you fry honey at high heat it may become bitter in addition to honey losing a lot of its benefits. So here’s a suggestion if you want to to fry them: simply swap the honey out with white sugar instead. Here is an article for more information on frying honey.
