Fresh or Frozen?

In the battle of whether to use fresh or frozen broccoli, I am kind of obliged to draw a tie! Because let’s be honest, whether you are using fresh or frozen veggies, the taste would still be worthy of a standing ovation.

Although, for this recipe, I recommend using fresh broccoli, you can absolutely use frozen ones if they are available. But you have to take a few things into consideration if you decide upon using frozen green monsters.

Make sure you thaw your frozen broccoli, or put it in an instant pot before adding it with the other soup ingredients.

Or, you can refrain from adding your frozen broccoli until after you have brought your chicken stock to a boil. Make sure you reduce the heat when your broccoli are fork-tender.

Another positive thing about using frozen broccoli is that it cooks much faster than frozen ones. You will have a steaming mouthwatering pot of the Creamy Broccoli & Mushroom Soup in no time!
