The perfect addition to any gathering

To stay alert and healthy throughout the day, we all need fuel. A healthy and well-balanced diet is essential for us, as well as our children’s healthy growth and development. Snack time is an excellent opportunity to introduce fruits and vegetables into our diet.

Children’s stomachs are smaller than adults’, so they are less likely to eat enough at meals to keep them full and energized until the next mealtime, so snack time is a great way for parents to get those extra nutrients.

These avocado cream cheese bites are a great healthy snack to serve your kids. Begin by selecting your vegetables. We like the combination of red bell peppers, cream cheese, and everything bagel seasoning, but you can use any non-starchy vegetable you like.

How to Make Our Kids Eat Healthier?

Children may be picky eaters, but recent studies found that how food is presented to them has a significant impact on the food they choose to eat. Children prefer more visual variety on their plates, whether it’s different colors or ingredients shaped into different shapes and designs.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Can I make these veggie bites ahead of time?

I don’t recommend assembling the recipe until you’re about to serve it. You can, however, do all of the preparation: cut the vegetables, and make the spread. Assembly takes less than 5 minutes, so having all of those tasks completed ahead of time is extremely beneficial.

Can I use other veggies?

You can use whatever raw vegetables you like to eat. I like to use bell peppers, carrots, lettuce, and cucumber, but any raw vegetables you prefer will work in this recipe.

Can I make it spicy?

Sure. Add some red pepper flakes or jalapeno peppers to the cream cheese mixture to make it spicy.

Is this recipe gluten free?

Yes. This recipe is made with gluten-free ingredients. However, I recommend that you check the label on everything but bagel seasoning to make sure it’s gluten-free.

Are avocados healthy?

Avocados are high in nutrients and phytochemicals. Incorporating this fruit into one’s daily diet can help to improve cardiovascular health, weight control, and blood glucose levels. Consuming it with salads or as a spread on a daily basis can improve an individual’s overall health.

Top Tips

While there aren’t enough non-starchy vegetables in this recipe to count as a full vegetable serving, you can always add some raw veggies on the side such as carrots, lettuce, and celery.

If you want to get fancy when making healthy veggie bites, pipe the avocado and cream cheese in a rosette on each cucumber and bell pepper slice with a piping bag.

Variations: Swap the chives for green chiles or jalapenos and chopped cilantro to make spicy avocado cream cheese bites.

Storage: After preparing, keep refrigerated until ready to serve. They should be stored in a single layer on a baking sheet or tray.

Refrigerate leftovers in a single layer for up to two days.

Make ahead: I recommend slicing the pepper and cucumber bites on the same day. You can make the avocado cream cheese mixture up to three days ahead of time to save time. Refrigerate it in an airtight container until ready to use with the cucumbers.
