    The Perfect Combo of Wraps

Two cans of corn kernels are placed on a grey surface. Near them are two sandwiches of pita wraps containing Mediterranean salad.
Wrap up your day with a healthy and delicious pita filled with fresh veggies and chickpeas.

What Is a Pita Salad Wrap?

Pita bread is a round flatbread leavened with yeast made with wheat flour. It has popular variations across the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern countries.

A pita wrap is when you fill the pita with your favorite ingredients and roll it up to eat it. Pita wraps can be filled with a chicken or chicken salad or even meat, like the ever-so-famous shawarma wraps, or other vegetarian choices.

A pita salad wrap is exactly as it is named. It’s a pita wrap stuffed with a salad. The only thing is that this type of wrap was originally made popular by Greek salad pita pockets, usually made on Naan bread. Naan is a bit similar to pita but is a little more tender and moist than pita which is a more dry bread. Also, it is important to note they vary greatly in nutritional value.

Pita bread is perfect for wrapping because it holds the salad or any other ingredients inside it quite well. It is also a common practice to warm the bread over an open fire (over the heat of the stove burner) for 3-5 seconds on each side before wrapping. This makes the pita soft for a minute so you can add your ingredients and wrap it. Then, as it cools, it becomes crisp and crunchy.

    The Fresh Veggie Goodness

These are the ingredients of the Mediterranean salad. They are chickpea, corn, cucumber, lemon, olive oil, and seasonings.

Why Should You Make This Recipe?

It’s always a great feeling when you have a variety of meal ideas to choose from. This is a refreshing dish and a great change from hearty or dense meals that can leave a heavy feeling in your belly. The last thing you want after dinner is to feel sluggish, and that’s why this meal choice is a great way into a light dish that will satisfy you as well.

Another great thing about this dish is that its ingredients are probably already available at home or easy to grab. It’s a super easy meal to put together in a very short period of time. Who doesn’t love an easy, timesaving meal that is also affordable?

Plus, you can never go wrong with a salad, especially if you’re adding Libby’s Vegetables. Using Libby’s Vegetables adds a touch of Spring and freshness to your weeknight dishes. You can use Libby’s Vegetables Peas & Carrots or Libby’s Vegetables Whole Kernel Sweet Corn to create fantastic, quick, and yummy dishes for your family.

Last night, for example, I used the Libby’s Vegetables Whole Kernel Sweet Corn in this Mediterranean Salad Pita Wraps recipe. The idea is that I love adding corn to some of my meals to jazz them up. In fact, it made it all into a different flavor and texture.

Fresh, Colorful, and Delicious Pita Wraps

In a bowl, there are chopped lettuce, corn, chickpeas, feta cheese, and cucumber. On the other side of the bowl, there is a pita wrap, different seasonings, and tomato slices
Satisfy your hunger and your taste buds with scrumptious pita wraps.

    The Versatile Salad Wraps

We all love meals that we can adapt to our loved ones’ taste buds. Is there something in the dressing you don’t like? Replace it with a favorite ingredient. You may even opt out of the dressing and create your own or use one you have on hand although I highly recommend you try this dressing. It’s amazing, but don’t take my word for it: Try it out yourself.

You can add vegetables of your choice. So on the next day you choose to have a light but healthy meal, just get a large bowl. Place some green pepper, cherry tomatoes, red pepper, red sweet pepper, garbanzo beans, bell peppers, and/or fresh parsley. Then, a teaspoon salt, some extra-virgin olive oil, and a squeeze of lemon juice over your chopped salad make it into a perfect wrap dish.

Swap out a veggie choice for one you prefer or keep them all and add more in; it’s up to you. Recreate this quick weeknight meal and learn more about Libby’s Vegetables.

Use Libby’s Vegetables for easy Spring dinner ideas. Whether they are in whole wheat pita pockets like this one or another meal of your choice, be sure to check out their range of yummy veggie options.

Pro Tips for the Best Salad Wraps

In case you store salad leftovers refrigerated, make sure you do so without adding dressing. You add dressing once you want to serve it. Otherwise, the chopped salad becomes soggy.

For a purely vegan version of this recipe, just leave out feta cheese.

    FAQs about Pita Salad Wraps

What can I serve the salad wraps with?

Well, while these are enjoyed by themselves, you can top the filling with some diced kalamata olives. You can also dip the sandwich in humus, mayo, or garlic sauce.

How can I store any leftovers?

If you have some extra filling remaining, you can eat it as chopped salad without the bread for dinner. Otherwise, keep it refrigerated in an airtight container up to 4 days.

What is the substitute of red wine vinegar?

You can simply replace it with regular vinegar without any change in taste and texture.
