Don’t Miss this Kitchen Hack!

Don’t you have ripe bananas? Well, you don’t need to wait for those unblemished yellow bananas to turn brown. Here’s the perfect hack to do it!

Put as many bananas as you need on parchment paper or a baking sheet in a tray. Bake them in the oven for around 30 minutes or until they become totally black and soft to the touch. This will speed up the ripening process.

Attention! Do not use the baked bananas in any recipe before they totally cool down and come to room temperature.

If you bake more than you need, you can put the rest in an airtight container or a freezer bag and freeze them. Peel and mash when needed.

You can also mash the bananas first, then freeze them. Take the frozen mashed bananas ahead of time to thaw when you need to make a recipe with bananas.

I do not recommend to bake green unripe bananas. Those haven’t developed enough sugars and flavors yet.

Rich and Delish Slice!

Can’t You Find an Ingredient? Here’re Some Substitutes!

The chocolate chips in banana bread add an extra rich chocolatey flavor. I used dark chocolate chips. You can give your double chocolate banana bread a special touch by adding some milk chocolate chips on top.

Semi-sweet chocolate chips work great as well! Another good option is dark chocolate chunks. Choose what you like!

For the cocoa, choose unsweetened cocoa powder. You can get Dutch process cocoa powder. It has a beautiful dark color with a deep flavor. Natural cocoa powder is an excellent option.

You can use maple syrup or agave nectar instead of coconut sugar. Avoid using brown sugar for this recipe. If you do, it will no longer be a paleo chocolate banana bread.

If not available, it is fine to use all oat flour instead of almond flour. You can also use all purpose flour. But if you do, the banana bread you make will not be gluten-free.

Vegetable oil is a good substitute for almond butter. But it might slightly affect the taste.

Expert Tips You Must Know

The best way to mash the bananas is by using a potato masher or a fork on a plate.

After you melt the almond butter, allow it to cool before adding it to the mixture. Hot melted butter may affect the final texture of the bread.

Make sure to take the eggs out of the fridge ahead of time so they come to room temperature before using them.

Choose overripe bananas. They have an extra sweetness. They are also moist and easy to mash.

Do not scoop the flour with a measuring cup. First, stir the flour with a spoon then spoon it into the cup to create air pockets.
